Link: http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20100228/world-news/cern-atom-smasher-restarts

This is a quote from an article published at Times Of Malta February 28 2010:

'Scientists have restarted the world's most powerful atom-smasher overnight, the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN) said, as they launch a new bid to uncover the secrets of the universe.

"The LHC is on its way again. First beam of 2010 circulated in each direction by 04.10 CET," said CERN in a tweet on its website.'

Large Hadron Collider in multi-magnet quench hiccup

Link: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/02/25/lhc_nqps_hiccup_delay/

This is a quote from an article published at The Register February 25 2010:

'First 2010 beams delayed as new redline painted on dial. A technical hiccup has delayed the planned restart of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the titanic subterranean magno-doughnut particle smasher situated deep beneath the Franco-Swiss border.

The LHC, most outrageous matter-rending machine ever assembled by the human race, had been expected to fire up its circulating hadron beams once more following the Xmas break today. However last night an "over enthusiastic" automatic protection system cut in, causing some fifty of the mighty collider's huge superconducting magnets to "quench". '

Two Big-Bang Risks: Strangelets and Black Holes

Link: http://www.cerntruth.com/?p=6

This is a quote from an article published at CERN Truth February 25 2010:

'CERN says it can’t create strange liquid because the collisions are very hot. But this information is misleading people. Only the external cover of a big-bang is very hot, as it does precisely to cool down the center where the strangelet forms. Consequently CERN will be creating more strange quarks. The proof of this phenomena came in the very first collisions in December, which created more strange quarks (kaons) than had been predicted, and with only 13% more energy. The increased rate was geometrical, hence at full energy it will create enough strange quarks to form strangelets.

In 2013 the LHC will accelerate protons and hadrons at maximal energy, colliding at over 1 Pev. Those collisions have the potential to create micro-black holes and top quark condensates (the real Higgs). The top quark condensates have properties similar to black holes, which according to Albert Einstein will not evaporate, rather convert matter (the Earth) into a 3 cm Black Hole or Frozen star.'

And:
'The majority of CERN physicists have sided with Stephen Hawking, who has stated ‘Einstein is double wrong’. Hawking claims black holes evaporate back in time, thereby dismissing Einstein and any potential danger. Einstein however has always been proved right and Hawking’s theories have not been proven in 40 years. By accepting that black holes travel to the past and evaporate, Hawking breaks the main laws of physics and science'

First, I want to thank NotePad.tv for presenting this subject in such a thorough manner, both sides of the issue of safety. I am a degreed electrical engineer in the United States from an accredited University. I also have minor degrees in mathematics and computer science. All accredited engineering programs in the United States require a minimum of 3 semesters of physics: Mechanics and Heat, Electricity and Light, finishing off with a semester studying “Modern Physics”. The science of Physics has always fascinated me. I was an outstanding Physics student. The Physics Department at my University gave me an honorary award for my academic performance in the 3 semester Physics series.

I greatly admire Stephen Hawking and follow his career. I read his book, “A Brief History of Time”. I continue to read many articles on physics and super string theory with fascination. Stephen Hawking is one of mankind’s most outstanding individuals. But, even such a genius is not always correct. No human being is perfect. We all make mistakes. What if he is incorrect about the mini black holes that the collider will be regularly making.

I have watched all of the NotePad.tv interviews with Professor Otto Roessler along with the well done 30 minute article posted from Al Jezeera TV. I am no expert by any means, but I am more knowledgeable than the general public as a whole. I strongly believe Professor Roessler makes some exceptional points that certainly warrant a week or two of rigorous peer debate in an open scientific forum. It is very troubling that Professor Roessler is constantly pushed aside as a fringe lunatic.
From a basic human perspective (average man on the street perspective), here is what I see: Almost everyone watching any of Professor Roessler’s interviews will see Professor Roessler comes across as very genuine, very humble, and very sincere. He is well educated and very articulate in expressing his concerns. All he is asking for is a rigorous scientific forum of peers to meet for one or two weeks to disprove his findings.

An average person on the street with common sense would obviously wonder why no one at CERN would even consider this. With such an expensive project, 1 or 2 weeks is a drop in the bucket considering the magnitude of danger if they are incorrect. The blanket statement given to the public is this:

“There is absolutely nothing to worry about. Trust us. We are the particle physicists’, and you are just an average person. We know what we are doing, and there is no chance of any of the miniature black holes created will ever cause any damage.”

I would like to make a very good recent analogy that many average people can relate to. Analogies often help people better understand issues.

Almost everyone in Europe and America knows of the controversy surrounding “man made CO2 global warming”. The average person again does not have the rigorous scientific background to fully understand the case the United Nations climate scientist make for man made CO2 global warming. When the controversy surfaced several years ago, the UN Climate scientists used the same smear tactics and bullying tactics that CERN is using now. They told the public, “We are the experts, there are thousands of climate experts, and we all agree 100% that man made CO2 is causing global warming”.

After the courageous efforts of many brilliant climate scientists that disagreed with that conclusion, and the wonderful leak of a decade’s worth of “Climate Gate” emails from East Anglia University, we now know that man is NOT causing global warming. Al Gore and president Obama still seem to be living on another planet, for they have not yet got the message.

The average person then asks why such prominent people continue to push the man made CO2 agenda in spite of the overwhelming case against it. Obama says “It’s science, not fiction”. Al Gore says, “The debate over. Man made CO2 is causing global warming”. It’s actually criminal in my opinion. They push it because the people behind the whole man made CO2 global warming concept have staked their fortunes and entire careers behind it. Admitting they made a mistake will be costly for them.

I’d like to quote from a speech of one of America’s finest presidents, John Kennedy:

“Without debate, without criticism, no Administration and no country can succeed--and no republic can survive. That is why the Athenian lawmaker Solon decreed it a crime for any citizen to shrink from controversy … An error does not become a mistake until you refuse to correct it.”

This takes me back to my opinions on this Collider controversy. The content and meaning in a Human conversation is more than just words. Facial expressions and mannerisms deliver a great deal of information as well. From watching the Al Jezeera interview, the expressions on Professor Jonathan Butterworth’s face when discussing the collider could be dangerous clearly show with eyes rolling, head shaking, raising eyebrows, and scoffing expressions that he believes Professor Roessler’s are utterly ridiculous and have no warrant. This is disrespectful in my opinion. Also, Professor Butterworth makes an incredibly misleading statement. He says, and I’ll quote,

“these collisions are going on around us all the time for a long time … it’s not that we are creating unprecedented collisions”.

Collisions on the energy level of 10 Trillion electron volts DO NOT regularly occur around us on Earth. They perhaps occur in stars, quasars, and black holes, but not around us in our daily lives on planet Earth. The collider was designed to create collisions on an energy level so high, they will come close to the energy levels of collisions close to the beginning of the Universe, the “Big Bang” as it is known. Even average people with common sense will have an intuitive feeling that this could be dangerous.

Here is my common sense conclusion that is the same as the analogy I used about man made CO2 global warming. They have spent $10 Billion dollars on this project. Thousands of scientists, technicians, and many corporations make a lot of money from this project. Many have staked their entire careers on this project. To bring up the question so late in the game that this project could have unknown dangers, is unthinkable to them. It is not uncommon for human beings (even highly intelligent ones) to delude themselves and refuse to consider thoughts, concepts, and ideas that are contrary to their peers. So, the typical smear tactics are used to marginalize people as fringe lunatics if they disagree with CERN physicists.

I watched the man made global warming debate go on in the U.S. House of Representatives in late 2008. Al Gore tried to label anyone that disagrees with his climate theory was a lunatic on the fringe with those who, and I will quote:

“still believe in UFOs, aliens, and that the moon landing was staged on a movie back lot in Arizona.”

The Congressman did NOT allow Gore to get away with such smear tactics, and it was a lively debate.

My point is this. All Professor Roessler wants is a rigorous 1 or 2 week public peer debate on his theory that there is a significant statistical probability that the collider could eventually produce a stable mini black hole that in time could destroy our planet. He WANTS to be disproved!!! And, CERN completely stonewalls such a debate.

Here is what I believe. CERN does NOT want that debate. If such a rigorous public debate was held, it might have some disturbing conclusions, the fears that Professor Roessler has. Why do I believe this??? Simple, a 1 or 2 week debate on this subject is a drop in the bucket compared to the cost of the entire project. Why stonewall such a debate with smear tactics??? This wreaks of the controversy surrounding man made global warming.

Suggestion: HAVE THE DEBATE in open public view. To continue stonewalling it is morally and ethically WRONG! It will continue to damage the reputation of scientists in the public domain. No one wants that. If it is so EASY to prove Professor Roessler wrong as Professor Butterworth is convinced, then do it!!! Prove him wrong!!! That will once and for ALL quell all the dissent that is occurring. People would NOT be wasting their time and money trying to get courts to issue injunctions to stop CERN until this controversial debate is held.

By NOT having such a peer debate, will ONLY make the average citizen even MORE concerned there is a cover up. And, no one, not even Professor Butterworth can blame me (an electrical engineer) for feeling this way considering the performance in our scientific community on man made global warming.

Supposed top notch scientists, corporations, and politicians have duped the public before. The public NO LONGER blindly trusts with GOOD REASON.

HAVE THE DEBATE! It’s the moral and ethical thing to do.

The Probabilities of Disaster

Link: http://www.cerntruth.com/?p=7

This is a quote from an article published at CERN Truth February 25 2010:

'CERN appears to invent its probabilities. One BBC quoted ‘expert’ stated the probability of blowing up the Earth was like winning the lottery 3 times in a row. Yet according to sciences Totalitarian Principle, particles that are not forbidden by the laws of physics always happen. When you switch a bulb, electrons always flow. If particles appeared only ’sometimes’, the Universe would be unstable and we would not exist.

According to the totalitarian principle the probabilities are closer to 100%. Cern has pushed aside risks and cherry picked theories that favor their confidentiality statements of zero risk. According to CERN these risks do not exist even if the theories it chooses to follow are false or obsolete.'

Could a Lawsuit Shut Down the LHC at CERN?

Link: http://www.scientificblogging.com/florilegium/blog/could_lawsuit_shut_down_lhc_cern

This is a quote from an article published on ScientificBlogging February 23 2010:

'An article has just been published at New Scientist claiming that if repeated attempts at lawsuits against the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) were to continue, then a judge may well have to decide on whether to pull the plug on the famous experiment.

Various lawsuits have already been filed and all have so far failed. We've been here before, but the NS shows that CERN keep changing their minds over the possibility of a black hole forming as new studies are released. As CERN updates its recommendations, so we could see a new batch of lawsuits with fresh concerns that the LHC may create a black hole that would destroy the world.'
